17" PVM Wheels

PVM was founded in 1919 and began producing magnesium wheels for airplanes during the 1940's.  PVM has been working with leading Grand Prix teams for the last 30 years, this has made them one of the leading and most successful suppliers in the racing field.

Forged 20-spoke wheel

This is the fourth generation of forged wheels made by PVM following the general trend towards FEM calculated wheels. While maintaining the weight reduction achieved in the third generation of design of the 10Y design, attention was turned to a new and exciting visual design.  PVM has captured the essence of this with the design of the 20 spoke wheel.  This design should be in production and available by the end of January 2005.

Average weight - "20" spoke Forged Aluminum
Front - 3.5" x 17" = 8.5lb
Rear - crush drive w/sprocket carrier - 6.0" x 17" = 13.5lb

Forged 10Y-spoke wheel

Forged by Europe's most prestigious manufacturer of forged parts and in compliance with the quality standards of the aerospace industry.  This is the third generation of forged wheels made by PVM following the general trend towards FEM calculated wheels. Weight reduction was for the first time the main goal here instead of design and optical considerations. The engineers succeeded in achieving a further weight reduction of up to 20% whilst improving the stability of the wheel at the same time. A forged aluminum front wheel sized at 3.5 x 17'' e.g. for a Ducati 998R now weighs only 7.5lb completely ready for fitting. The weight optimization is even more striking for the back wheels: In this case for example the 6 x 17'' wheel of a Yamaha R1 was reduced to slightly more than 11.5lb.

Average weight - "10Y" spoke Forged Aluminum
Front - 3.5" x 17" = 8.25lb
Rear - crush drive w/sprocket carrier - 6.0" x 17" = 13.0lb

Average weight - "10Y" spoke Forged Magnesium
Front - 3.5" x 17" = 5.0lb
Rear - crush drive w/sprocket carrier - 6.0" x 17" = 8.0lb

Forged 5Y-spoke wheel

Our absolute number 1 product of wheel engineering is on its way into the next millennium. Forged by Europe's most prestigious manufacturer of forged parts and in compliance with the quality standards of the aerospace industry, this wheel represents a milestone in the development of motorcycle wheels.
Completely CNC-processed, it is more stable and rigid than any traditional cast wheel. At the same time its clearly optimized weight offers yet another advantage over conventional technology. The street-homologated aluminum version is up to 30% lighter than comparable cast-aluminum wheels.
What the forged magnesium racing model can do borders on the unimaginable. Although this 3.5 x 17" wheel only weighs about 5lb, it still has enough safety reserves to carry even the heaviest racing bike through the season and beyond.

Average weight - "5Y" spoke Forged Aluminum
Front - 3.5" x 17" = 8.25lb
Rear - crush drive w/sprocket carrier - 6.0" x 17" = 13.0lb

Forged 5H-spoke wheel

This is the first generation design of a forged aluminum wheel by PVM.  It is forged by Europe's most prestigious manufacturer of forged parts and in compliance with the quality standards of the aerospace industry, this wheel represents a milestone in the development of motorcycle wheels.
Completely CNC-processed, it is more stable and rigid than any traditional cast wheel. At the same time its clearly optimized weight offers yet another advantage over conventional technology. The street-homologated aluminum version is up to 30% lighter than comparable cast-aluminum wheels.

Average weight - "5H" spoke Forged Aluminum
Front - 3.5" x 17" = 8.5lb
Rear - crush drive w/sprocket carrier - 6.0" x 17" = 13.5lb
